MLB DFS August 13: Showdown

MLB DFS August 13: Yu Darvish

With a light slate tonight, let’s take a dive into a different game; DraftKings Showdown for the Chicago Cubs vs the Milwaukee Brewers. We will choose a Captain and five other players with the caveat being that all of your players cannot be from the same team. The Captain scores 1.5 times his points but also costs 1.5 times his normal salary. Let’s create a winning lineup for MLB DFS August 13: Showdown, shall we?

Captain

Yu Darvish will cost you $16,800 in this spot, but he is well worth it. After a semi-rough first outing against these same Brewers, Darvish has given up just seven hits, two walks, and an earned run in his last 13 innings. Darvish has also thrown 86 and 93 pitches in his last two starts respectively and won both games. As a minor plus as well, the wind will be blowing straight in from centerfield tonight at about 8-10 mph. Lock in Darvish as Captain and you could be in for a 40-50 point night.

Lineup Options

With Darvish as an expensive Captain, we will have to look for cheaper options in the hitting department. I personally like a wrap-around stack for the Cubs. Kris Bryant is out of the lineup tonight and Nico Hoerner is leading off. You can afford Steven Souza Jr., Victor Caratini, Hoerner, and Anthony Rizzo. That gives you eight, nine, one, and two in the Cubs order. It also gives you an opportunity to grab Eric Sogard who is leading off for the Brewers or Avisail Garcia who is batting cleanup.

You can play around with the salaries and mini-stacks such as taking out Rizzo for Keston Hiura who bats second behind Sogard. You could even go a major Cubs stack if you put someone like Sogard as your Captain.

Tonight though, I prefer going all-in on the Cubs. They are facing Brett Anderson who likely won’t last long. Definitely mix up your exposure a bit and don’t be afraid to take a chance especially in tournaments. That one cheap bat at Captain may get a hold of one tonight and lead you to the money. Good Luck all.
