MLB DFS: A perfect 10: Nelson Cruz

Today we finish out the weekend with a nice 10-game slate starting at 1:00 pm ET. There are plenty of players to choose from, but we need to find those lower-priced values where we can get them. Let’s check out 10 players who should return solid value and be in at least a few of your lineups for today’s MLB DFS.

***All Prices Are DraftKings***

On the Bump

Vince Velasquez – $8,300 – vs. Washington Nationals

The Philly right-hander had a bit of a hiccup on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, surrendering six runs in just three innings of work. Before that, though, Velasquez allowed only three runs (three solo homers) in 24.1 innings dating back to May 3. In those outings, he also held opponents to a .146 batting average. The Nats for their part haven’t been hitting. They have scored just 10 runs in the past four games and have only scored 4+ runs twice in their last 10.

Dane Dunning – $4,900 – vs. Tampa Bay Rays

This is all about strikeout upside here, especially considering the price. While Dunning has been a bit up and down this season, he has a solid 55/17 K/BB rate in 52 innings. On the Rays side of things, they have struck out the most in the majors (636). Tampa Bay has also K’d 110 times in their last 10 games and have a weak .629 OPS in that span.

Other Options: Corbin Burnes ($11,000 vs. Arizona Diamondbacks), Dylan Cease ($9,400 vs. Detroit Tigers)

On the Dirt

Pavin Smith – 1B – $3,400

The big left-handed slugger faces a tough opponent in Burnes today. The way Smith has been hitting, it shouldn’t matter. Over the last two weeks, the Diamondbacks’ first baseman is slashing .455/.520/.727 with a nice 6/4 BB/K rate. Lock in the hot hitter even against an ace.

Jonathan India – 2B – $3,300

The Reds’ second baseman seems to love facing the St. Louis Cardinals. Over the last three games, he is 6-for-9 with a couple of homers, a couple of doubles, and four walks. He also hasn’t struck out. Lock him in again as he faces John Gant today. The Cardinals’ right-hander has an awful 39/34 K/BB rate and is extremely lucky to have a 1.60 ERA. That luck runs out today.

Other Options: Rhys Hoskins ($4,800 vs. Washington Nationals)

On the Grass

Andrew Benintendi – $3,600

The Kansas City Royals left fielder is 9-for-23 during his current six-game hitting streak. He also has 12 RBI in that span with a couple of bombs. He faces Bailey Ober whose only start in the majors didn’t go well. Benny, for his part, is raking against right-handers this season with a .897 OPS and all six of his blasts have come off of righties.

Other Options: Nelson Cruz ($5,500 at Kansas City Royals) *HR Call, Tyler O’Neill ($4,500 vs. Cincinnati Reds)
