MLB DFS Showdown

Happy Saturday folks as we get a day closer to the official beginning of summer. With the warmer weather approaching, let’s work to add to our bankroll for summer adventures. For today’s MLB DFS, instead of doing a full slate, we will be looking at a showdown. One of the featured showdowns on DraftKings is the New York Yankees at the Toronto Blue Jays in a battle of high-powered offenses. The game starts at 3:07 p.m. EDT, so let’s pick out some captain and utility options.

Captain: Anthony Rizzo ($15,000)

The Yankees’ first baseman is on fire right now as he has posted back-to-back games of 24-plus fantasy points in MLB DFS. Rizzo smashed a grand slam in last night’s game a day after hitting a walk-off homer against the Tampa Bay Rays. Although it’s a tough matchup versus Alek Manoah, Rizzo has hit 12 of his 16 homers against right-handers and has a 144 wRC+ against them. With the way the left-handed hitter is swinging the stick of late, that should make us feel good enough to pay up for him to be the showdown captain.

Utility: Aaron Judge ($11,200)

It’s hard not to levitate towards the Yankees’ big bats the way they have put runs up lately. Judge has been the leader for them all season and is an AL MVP frontrunner. Last night, he went 2-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. Back in May, Judge hit a homer off Manoah which was his first hit against him in 11 at-bats. While the Yankees tend to struggle against the young right-hander, they hit the Blue Jays bullpen well, which they did in the previous matchup. Judge looks like he could hit anyone right now, so let’s roll with him.

Utility: Alejandro Kirk ($7,800)

Toronto’s catcher has tremendous for them this season and is likely to start the All-Star Game in Los Angeles. Kirk hit a homer and scored two runs as the designated hitter last night after recording two hits on Thursday. He also recorded two hits against Jameson Taillon in the May matchup and hits righties well, to the tune of an .877 OPS. Kirk is on a three-game hitting streak and is hitting .318 with six homers and an .880 OPS on the season.

Utility: Jose Trevino ($5,400)

Trevino has been a godsend for the Yankees amidst the struggles of Kyle Higashioka. He has started to get the bulk of the playing time as he is hitting .291 with five homers and an .812 OPS. Against right-handers, he is hitting .265 with a .729 OPS and a 110 wRC+. The catchers in this game have been slugging and are at pretty cheap prices, so let’s roll with it.
