The Minnesota Vikings were one of the several teams active throughout last week’s NFL Draft. Trades started on day 1 (with division rivals) and flowed over into day two and day three. Even though they traded back in the first round, the Vikings still struck gold by selectingΒ Lewis Cine at 32. After that, they continued to find value with other selections in general manager Kwesi Adodo-Mensah’s first draft with the team.Β

Best Pick:Β Andrew BoothΒ (Round 2, Pick 42)
Between Cine and Booth, Minnesota got two studs in the secondary with their first two selections. However, Booth is the best pick of the draft for the Vikings and arguably of the entire class. Yes, Booth has some injury concerns, but he is a phenomenal football player. He’s explosive, twitchy, and has the best ball skills of any corner out there. I had him sixth on my board coming in, so the value is exceptional.

Worst Pick:Β Brian AsamoahΒ (Round 3, Pick 66)
It was hard to find a pick that was detrimental to this draft class. With Asamoah, you have a player lots of people are high on, and one others are lower on. The big knock is that his tackling technique is horrible, which it is. He doesn’t get low whatsoever, thus losing leverage and the rep. Because of this, Asamoah is a developmental player, though the potential is there.
Grade: C+

Sleeper Pick:Β Jalen NailorΒ (Round 6, Pick 191)
Nailor was going to be a sleeper pick to almost any team he went to, and he is with Minnesota. The Michigan State wide receiver is incredibly fast. While he only ran a 4.50 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, you can see on film he plays with more twitch and better agility than what the original number says. Additionally, this is a guy who can provide serious value in the return game, should Minnesota need it down the road. Sixth-round picks are not always locks to make the roster, but Nailor should be safe.
Grade: B+
Summary
With the Vikings constantly teetering on the brink of playoff appearances, this is exactly the draft they needed to potentially put themselves over the edge. Cine and Booth will be impact players right off the bat and can become stars in the NFL. Others likeΒ Akayleb Evans,Β Ed Ingram, andΒ Ty ChandlerΒ can give a quality contribution to this team as they hope to make it back to the postseason.
