The Miami Dolphins haven’t had a great quarterback since Dan Marino and they will be looking for one this upcoming season after they get rid of Ryan Tannehill.
There are some good options available in free agency such as Teddy Bridgewater and Nick Foles. There are also some quarterbacks in the draft that are projected first-round picks such as Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray and Missouri’s Drew Lock. Another name to watch is Ohio State’s signal-caller, Dwayne Haskins.
The Dolphins have a lot of options and Nick Foles could be the guy for the job. He has been above average for the Philadelphia Eagles when having to start at quarterback and has been clutch in the past. Even in the most recent playoff loss to New Orleans, he was solid, but Alshon Jeffery let a pass go right through his hands that cost the Eagles the game.
Foles had a decent year for the Eagles while he filled in for the injured Carson Wentz. He had over 1,000 yards passing in seven games in 2018. He also had seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He led the Philadelphia Eagles to a surprise playoff appearance and had a 96.0 quarterback rating on the year.
Bridgewater is more of a bridge Quarterback and would be a good idea if the Dolphins drafted a quarterback that they think would need to sit a year before getting his feet wet in the NFL. Miami has a lot of thinking to do at the most important position in football. Bridgewater played one game in the 2018 season, where he threw for just over 100 yards and had one touchdown and one interception. He had a quarterback rating of 73.7 in the game vs the Carolina Panthers.
A lot of mock drafts have Miami selecting Kyler Murray or Drew Lock and many people believe the Dolphins have to find a good signal caller to be able to compete. Let’s see what they do throughout the draft and free agency. The fate of the organization depends on who is leading the way at the quarterback position.
