The Miami Dolphins have had one of the most exciting offseasons of any team in the NFL. They’ve brought in big names like Tyreek Hill and Terron Armstead while adding needed depth. Now, the Dolphins are poised to make a run next year. However, there are still some holes that this team needs to address, which they can do in the draft, but it will be tough as their first pick comes in the third round.

Round 3, Pick 102: Chris Paul, iOL, Tulsa
Paul was widely regarded as a day three pick until the NFL Combine. Here, he posted a raw athletic score of 9.45. While he is a project, Paul will immediately provide help to a still not good offensive line. He can plug and play nearly anywhere but is best suited at guard. The value with this pick is off the charts and one the Dolphins cannot screw up on with only four selections in this draft.
Round 4, Pick 125: Jack Sanborn, LB, Wisconsin
The second biggest need on this roster is easily linebacker. Sanborn really fits the bill for what Miami likes in their linebackers. He’s athletic but big, has great fundamentals, excellent experience. He’ll move around a bit in that traditional 3-4 defense, and it will take time before Sanborn finds a true role for Miami. But Sanborn would be a nice selection in the middle of day two for Miami.
Round 5, Pick 158: Charlie Kolar, TE, Iowa State
Kolar’s projection is well up in the air right now. Some say that the league sees him a bit higher than the media does, but who knows if that’s true. At this point in the draft, the Dolphins have no other real weaknesses to address. With Mike Gesicki’s franchise-tagged, why not prepare for the worst next season? Kolar is a dual-threat tight end who can backup Gesicki right away and be a viable weapon for Tua Tagovailoa when Gesicki is not in.
Round 7, Pick 224: Stewart Reese, iOL, Florida
The final pick for the Dolphins goes right back to the line. Depth is still needed, even with the Paul selection, and Reese can give that. He’s a very powerful lineman who Mike Macdonald will like right away. The sixth-year senior has the experience and intelligence to be a very impactful rotational piece for the Dolphins and a player who should make the roster with a good camp.
