Mets Announce Yoenis Céspedes Did Not Report to Stadium, Hasn’t Contacted Team

On Sunday afternoon, right after the Mets‘ game against the Braves in Atlanta commenced, general manager Brodie Van Wagenen announced the following in a team statement:

“As of game time, Yoenis Céspedes has not reported to the ballpark today. He did not reach out to management with any explanation for his absence. Our attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful.”

Céspedes has located his power from time to time earlier this year but is still struggling at the plate to a tune of .179 average through the first nine games. Céspedes has yet to play the field and has solely served as the designated hitter.

Hopefully, Céspedes is okay and will be able to mend any outstanding issues so he can return to the team soon and bring ease to the baseball community.
