A week after suffering a humiliating 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool, Manchester United had no choice but to find a way to earn three points against Tottenham. After the Liverpool loss, it was thought that Ole Gunnar Solskjær would be sacked. However, it was decided he would remain in his position for the time being. Even with the win against Tottenham, Solskjær remains on the hot seat.

The Red Devils won their first Premier League match since September 19. They are eight points behind Chelsea, who sits on top of the Premier League table. In addition, Manchester United picked up their second consecutive win against Tottenham, both coming on the road. In Tottenham’s case, they sit in the eighth spot of the Premier League table. They have now lost two straight games in league play.

The Red Devils play their second match against Atalanta on Tuesday in a Champions League Group match. The team’s next Premier League match is at home against crosstown rivals Manchester City. No doubt, Solskjær has his hands full this coming week. With his job on the line, the manager needs to prove himself. The Red Devils need to build on their hard-fought win against Tottenham. They are already at risk of finishing below fifth place. Should that happen, Manchester United misses out on both the Champions League and the Europa League next season. That would be catastrophic for the club.

Crunch Time

Man U has two Champions League Group matches next month. Their next Premier League opponents after Man City will be Watford, Chelsea, and Arsenal. It is time for the Red Devils to prove themselves and get out of this jam. With all the talent at their disposal, there’s no excuse for poor play and poor results. Overall, Manchester United has a long road ahead, so they need to get it together. It doesn’t get any easier from here.
