Rams Deadline

The Los Angeles Rams have had a successful start to the season and are heading into the trade deadline with no major issues. They sit at 6-1, with their only loss coming against an undefeated Arizona Cardinals team. However, every team has room for improvement. The Rams are known for trading draft picks to acquire big names like Jalen Ramsey, but with no first-round picks in the next two years, they could be less active this year. Head coach, Sean McVay, said that fans should not expect any ‘big splash moves’ before the deadline. However, smaller moves should not be ruled out. Let’s take a look at a few trades they could make.

Buyers or Sellers: Buyers

Current NFL Draft Spot: 28th Overall

Potential Trade #1: 2023 fifth-round pick to the New York Jets for Marcus Maye

The Rams have always been willing to give up draft picks to improve their team and Maye could help them. After losing John Johnson III in the offseason, the Rams’ depth at safety has diminished. There have been some rumors of Maye potentially wanting a trade, although he denied them. He has been decent this year with 23 tackles and a sack. However, last year Maye was excellent. He posted an 82.9 PFF grade and had 88 tackles during the year. A fifth-round pick could be enough to get the former second-rounder from the Jets if they are willing to move him.

Potential Trade #2: 2022 seventh-round pick to the New York Giants for Billy Price

As mentioned earlier, the Rams are not looking to make a big move but could make some smaller moves to shore up their depth. Although Brian Allen has been a good center for the Rams this year, if they can tap into Price’s upside, they could benefit well from it. Price is an upside trade option that could be useful as a backup offensive lineman. He is a former first-round pick but has been awful in his first four years. Price has a 50.5 PFF grade this year, but there are still some benefits to trading him. There is little risk in trading for Price as he comes at a low cost and if they can unlock some of his talents, they would win big. He should cost a late-round pick at most being a valuable depth piece.

Potential Trade #3: 2024 fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for Keith Taylor Jr.

With Darious Williams on injured reserve, the Rams could look for a replacement option for the time being. Rookie, Robert Rochell, has been good, but inconsistent as the backup. He has 11 tackles and an interception to his name this year with a 69 PFF grade. However, adding another cornerback would not hurt. Taylor has been good this year and would help add to the Rams’ depth with future upside as he is also a rookie. He has posted 18 tackles and one forced fumble in the first seven games this season. A fourth-round pick should be enough to add Taylor and the upside is nice for the Rams
