LAFC Drop Their First Game in Over 2 Months

Well, this is a different feeling for fans of the Black and Gold. LAFC experienced their first loss since April 17, when they lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The game started out extremely slow –– considering the speed we’ve become accustomed to seeing from Bob Bradley’s squad. Colorado controlled most of the first half, until the 35th minute when Carlos Vela drew a foul that gave LAFC a free kick. Diomande took the free kick, and it went straight into the wall, a parallel for what the rest of the game would be like for LAFC.

Bob Bradley was frustrated by the lack of tempo and general sloppiness of the team. He said as much in his interview after half time.

Starting the second half, the Black and Gold were slowly picking up steam until a corner kick from the Rapids turned into a header by Danny Wilson to give Colorado a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute. After that, LAFC slowly started to pick up the pieces once again. Their best chance came in the 71st minute when Adrien Perez missed a golden opportunity high just outside the 6’.

LAFC just didn’t have it in Colorado.

Regardless of tempo, missing players, and the rain delay, LAFC simply shouldn’t lose to the one of the worst teams in the MLS. Colorado came into the game having allowed a league-worst 36 goals against. It was a strange loss, LAFC looked out of sync.

It’s definitely not the end of the world –– as sometimes a loss can refocus a team. They have quite a busy schedule coming in the next few days. Let’s see how the Black and Gold bounce back.
