Kansas City Chiefs Release Safety Eric Berry

The Kansas City Chiefs have released former All Pro safety Eric Berry, according to a team release via Twitter.

The five-time Pro Bowl safety is leaving Kansas City following the signing of former Houston Texans safety Tyrann Mathieu earlier in the week. The Chiefs are in the midst of a complete defensive overhaul, given a dismal 2018 campaign on that side of the ball.

Berry, 30, has gone through plenty of turmoil during his NFL career; most notably defeating cancer a few year back. The reality is that age and availability had dwindled over the past few seasons with injuries setting in.

According to rumors, Berry may land on his feet sooner-than-later with former Chiefs general manager, and current Cleveland Browns GM, John Dorsey expressing interest in the safety’s availability.
