It’s Time for Vlad Jr. to Get the Call

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is baseball’s top prospect and its time for him to be called up to the majors. Coming back off a Grade 1 left oblique strain, Guerrero opened his season going 7/17 with two homers, 14 total bases, and no strikeouts.

Guerrero Jr. started the season in single-A, then moved up to triple-A Buffalo. In Buffalo, he is batting .412 with a .824 slugging percentage in five games. With numbers like this, it is safe to say Guerrero will not be in Buffalo for long. There have been reports that Guerrero could be called up soon and play Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants.

Guerrero is as close to a sure star as there is in baseball. It will be nice to see what he does on the MLB level; he has been killing minor league pitching.

In the minors last season, Guerrero hit .381 with a .437 on-base percentage, 1.073 OPS, 20 homers, and 78 RBIs in 95 games. He has nothing else to prove on the minor league level, and it is time for him to show what he can do in Majors.

Guerrero Jr. is the son of Hall Of Fame baseball player Vladimir Guerrero. Guerrero Jr signed with the Toronto Blue Jays at the age of 16 for $3.9 million signing bonus. Unlike his father, the younger Guerrero rarely chases terrible pitches; he had 37 walks and 38 strikeouts last season in 408 plate appearances.

True baseball fans everywhere are excited to see this kid play in the majors. I can’t wait to see the mammoth home runs he hits for the Blue jays. Guerrero Jr. should be a key player in the middle of the Blue Jays lineup for years. He should be the breath of fresh air the ball club needs to get headed into the right direction.
