New York Giants star kicker Aldrick Rosas was arrested for an alleged hit-and-run accident on Monday morning in Chico, Calif., according to a California Highway Patrol incident report. The report also says that alcohol impairment is believed to be a factor in the collision.

The Giants released a statement Tuesday morning that said, “We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Aldrick. We have no further comment at this time.”

The California native was driving in his black 2018 Chevrolet SUV at an estimated 100 MPH at around 8:25 a.m. PDT. Rosas, 25, allegedly blew past a red light and collided with a Ford pick-up truck at an intersection.

According to the police report, the 2018 Pro Bowler attempted to drive away before his Chevy became disabled and then attempted to flee the scene as a CHP officer located and matched him with the runaway driver’s description.

The report also noted that Rosas’s hands, feet, and legs were all covered in blood. He was treated for injuries at a nearby medical center and later booked at Butte County Jail for a misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.

Rosas went undrafted in 2016 out of Southern Oregon but was signed by the Giants in 2017. In three seasons with the Big Blue, Rosas played in all 48 games, converting 62 of 75 field goals (82.7 percent) and 86 of 94 extra points (91.5 percent). He is coming off a down year in 2019, making just 12 of 17 field goal attempts while missing four extra points (35 of 39).

Rosas entered the offseason as a restricted free agent but signed a $3.26 million second-rounder tender to remain with the Giants for the 2020 season.
