Frank Clark’s Free Agency Situation

Frank Clark is expected to be a member of the Seahawks next season, but it is yet to be determined whether he will reach a long-term deal with the team or be franchise tagged.

Of course, he still has the chance to consider his options in free agency. Clark is surely the staple of Seattle’s defensive line, and it would hurt Seattle if he decided to sign with another team.

A consistent member of Seattle’s defense, Clark played a role in both the pass and run game. He finished the season with one interception and two passes defended, an impressive stat line for a defensive end. As a tackler, he forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles, and made 41 total tackles (10 for loss). Clark was also a presence in the pass rush, coming off the edge to make 13 sacks and 27 total quarterback hits.

Back in 2015, Clark was a second-round pick out of the University of Michigan. He was taken with the 63rd overall selection. At Michigan, he was selected to Second Team All-Big Ten in 2013. He was dismissed from the Wolverines’ football program in 2014 after being arrested for domestic violence.

With the Seahawks’ available cap space, they should be willing to pay Clark well to bring him back. It should also be a top offseason priority for the team, along with replacing Earl Thomas, pairing Shaquill Griffin with another talented cornerback, and bringing in a new tight end.

It is clear that Clark has been a force defensively for the Seahawks, meaning that he may be hard to replace. Seahawks fans are pushing for the team to re-sign Frank Clark as soon as possible, and it should be a storyline to follow as the offseason progresses.
