In this midst of this year’s untimely global pandemic, professional athletes across the nation have gotten extremely creative with their social media accounts to engage with fans on an unprecedented level. Here are a few of the best.
1. Salon Delle & BakEDD– Elena Delle Donne (Washington Mystics)
Washington Mystics’ forward Elena Delle Donne has always been creative on social media, but she has really outdone herself during the quarantine. On April 27th, Delle Donne introduced an IGTV series called “Salon Delle”. In this series, Elena creates a hilarious hair and makeup experience for her “client’s”, keeping the audience engaged and laughing the entire time. Elena has also created another IGTV series called “BakEDD” In addition to Salon Delle. In this series, Chef Elena shows basketball fans how to make her favorite treats which are often Disney themed. This series’ first episode was posted by Elena on April 29th and occurs each Wednesday on Instagram.

As quarantine officially began in March, so did Sue Bird & Megan Rapinoe‘s new Instagram LIVE series “A Touch More”. In this series, the couple invites other athletes on for conversation, drinks, and laughs as well as to discuss the world of sports and the many issues it faces. This is definitely a go-to if you want to laugh until you cry for at least a couple of hours straight. So far, A Touch More has hosted special guests Jimmy Butler, Diana Taurasi, Katie Nolan, and soccer couple Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger for conversation, drinks, and laughter.
4. Quarantine Quigley Challenge– Allie Quigley (Chicago Sky, WNBA)
Back in April, Chicago Sky guard Allie Quigley created the #QuarantineQuigleyChallenge on Twitter. The challenge required participants to perform a seated trick shot into a basketball hoop for a chance to win a signed jersey. Basketball fans took to twitter and did not disappoint!
