Week 4 of the 2020 NFL season is in the books. For all 32 teams, Tuesday morning brings a whole new week of football and preparing for their next game. However, a handful of players might not want to leave Week 4 so soon. Here’s a look at who impressed and who underachieved this week.
Quarterback
Winner: Tom Brady (32.5 FPTS)
Tom Brady looked solid on Sunday, throwing five touchdowns while tossing just one interception. He added 369 yards through the air. While the Buccaneers’ game vs. the Chargers came down to the wire, there’s no question that Brady was the clear winner from a fantasy football perspective in Week 4.
Loser: Nick Mullens (6.0 FPTS)
The quarterback play in Week 4 was generally impressive. The worst performance came from 49ers signal-caller Nick Mullens, who struggled to find a groove before getting benched for C.J. Beathard late in the 49ers’ loss. He finished with 18 completions for 200 yards, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions along the way.
Running Back
Winner: Joe Mixon (42.1 FPTS)
Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Mixon is back. The Bengals’ running back exploded for 25 carries, 151 yards, and two touchdowns on the ground while adding six catches for 30 yards, and an additional score through the air. This was a huge performance for Mixon, whose owners have been frustrated after he vastly underperformed in the first three weeks of the season.
Loser: Darrell Henderson Jr. (4.8 FPTS)
A lot of people were banking on Henderson to exceed his projections in Week 4, but he failed to do as the Los Angeles Rams went back to Malcolm Brown, who out-snapped (49 percent to 31 percent) and received more touches (15 to six) than Henderson. There’s reason to be worried about Henderson’s stock going forward, especially with Cam Akers set to return to the mix this week.
Wide Receiver
Winner: Odell Beckham Jr. (38.4 FPTS)
Odell Beckham Jr. joined Joe Mixon in the category of players impressing their owners and making up for a slow start to the year. The Cleveland receiver finished with season-highs in receptions (five), yards (81), and touchdowns (two) as the Browns defeated the Cowboys, 49-38. Beckham scored more points in Week 4 than he did in the three previous weeks combined, and there’s reason to be optimistic regarding the flashy pass-catcher going forward.
Loser: D.J. Moore (8.9 FPTS)
D.J. Moore had a somewhat concerning week as he finished with four (or fewer) catches for the third time this season. Moore finished with just 49 receiving yards and has yet to log a touchdown, and while he did out-snap Robby Anderson for the fourth straight week, the former Jets wideout has posted much better numbers with 28 catches for 377 yards and a touchdown. There is legitimate reason to be concerned about Moore going forward.
Tight End
Winner: George Kittle (40.1 FPTS)
George Kittle was incredible in his return from injury, finishing with nearly twice as many points as the next-best tight end (Mark Andrews, 20.7 FPTS). Kittle was clearly San Francisco’s best player in their Sunday night loss, hauling in all 15 of his targets for 183 yards and one touchdown despite the woes of Nick Mullens under center. George Kittle is, indeed, back.
Loser: Mike Gesicki (2.5 FPTS)
I’ve frequently been low on Mike Gesicki, and Week 4 was much of the same for the inconsistent tight end who will likely never be a start-and-forget player. Gesicki was targeted just three times this week, catching one pass for 15 yards. Outside of his huge Week 5, he has just five catches for 60 yards in three games.
Defense
Winner: Philadelphia Eagles (14.0 FPTS)
The Eagles were atrocious for the first three weeks but put together a solid fantasy performance against a shaky 49ers team in Week 4. While they allowed 417 yards, they also finished with one touchdown, one fumble recovery, and two interceptions against a San Francisco team that eventually switched from Nick Mullens to C.J. Beathard under center.
Loser: Arizona Cardinals (-2.0 FPTS)
The Cardinals struggled immensely against the Panthers, who were fueled by Teddy Bridgewater, Mike Davis, and Robby Anderson. The Cardinals picked up just one interception while allowing 444 yards and 31 points.
