Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season is in the books. For the majority of the league, Tuesday morning brings a whole new week of football and preparing for their next game. However, a handful of players might not want to leave Week 2 so soon. Here’s a look at who impressed and who underachieved this week.

All point totals are based on PPR scoring.

Quarterback

Winner: Kyler Murray (39.1 FPTS)

Murray had another phenomenal showing on Sunday, logging 400 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air. He also found the end zone on the ground once. Moving forward, Murray is squarely in the QB1 conversation. He should be started every week regardless of matchup.

Loser: Zach Wilson (2.30 FPTS)

It is no secret that Wilson had a really, really bad week. The rookie went 19-for-33 with 210 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and four interceptions. It’s far too early to give up on the BYU product, especially with upcoming matchups against the poor Titans and Falcons secondaries. Still, Week 2 offered horrendous results from Wilson.

Running Back

Winner: Derrick Henry (48.7 FPTS)

If you disagree with this pick, please close your computer because I have revoked your Internet privileges for an eternity. In all seriousness, Henry put on a show against the Seahawks, posting 237 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in the win on Sunday. He’s the clear selection here after offering up what could end up being the greatest fantasy performance of 2021.

Loser: Clyde Edwards-Helaire (3.6 FPTS)

Picking between Edwards-Helaire and Alvin Kamara was not easy, but a lost fumble pushed the balance towards the former here. The LSU product 13 times for 46 yards in Week 2 and was not targeted in the passing game. He also coughed up the football once. He has fallen out of the must-start conversation and probably settles into the FLEX range against the Chargers in Week 3.

Wide Receiver

Winner: Tyler Lockett (32.8 FPTS)

After turning heads in Week 1 (100 yards and two touchdowns), Lockett followed that up with 178 yards and a score against the Titans this past Sunday. He led the team in targets and did a great job getting open. While the Seahawks receiver has been inconsistent in the past, it’s impossible not to trust him at this point in the season. Feel free to confidently deploy him as a low-end WR1 going forward.

Loser: Corey Davis (2.8 FPTS)

Expectations should have been tempered in regards to Davis, but he is still considered a letdown after posting two catches for eight yards against the Patriots. (He amassed 97 yards and two touchdowns the week prior.) Going forward, the former Titans wideout is a low-end WR3 with decent matchups against the Broncos, Titans, and Falcons.

Tight End

Winner: Travis Kelce (24.9 FPTS)

What’s new? Kelce continues to dominate opposing defenses, this time posting 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. He is the consensus TE1 and should be started every week, regardless of matchup.

Loser: Tyler Higbee (1.8 FPTS)

Higbee posted a dud against the Colts in Week 2, racking up just one catch for eight yards. Despite the frustrating showing, he remains in the low-end TE1 range. With the tight end position so challenging to predict (outside of the clear alphas), Higbee still represents a great option for your lineup.

Defense

Winner: Bears D/ST (20.0 FPTS)

While a pair of late scores from Cincinnati made this game close, Chicago still dominated defensively. The unit racked up four sacks, three interceptions, and one fumble recovery on Sunday afternoon. They also picked up a touchdown and held the Bengals to a total of 248 yards.

Loser: Giants D/ST

New York had a tough showing against Washington during Thursday night’s loss. While the Giants did rack up an interception, they also allowed 30 points and 407 yards to an offense led by Taylor Heinicke.
