Fantasy Football News & Views: Week 11 Last Looks

Fantasy Football News & Views posts twice weekly: Warmup kicks-starts your fantasy football planning, and Last Looks makes sure you’re ready to roll out your rosters.

If Thursday night’s game was any indication of how Week 11 is going to play out, we’re in for a wild ride. I can’t continue without saying that the end of the game was horrific to watch; not because the Browns won, but because of what went on between the two teams. I hope never to see anything like that again.

From a fantasy perspective, the game garnered some unexpected results. I had all but written off Baker Mayfield for the season, but he reminded us that he really does have some skills. Maybe he’s been humbled and can now get on with simply playing the game. If you stuck with him this week, he earned you 21.82 points.

I’ve been optimistic about the return of Kareem Hunt, and he fared better than the experts projected, earning 11.8 points. I’m not sure that Nick Chubb owners were happy about that. Chubb is still the top backfield option, though, and he goes into Week 12 with a favorable matchup against the Dolphins.

What can I say other than “oh no!” in regards to James Conner? In a weak waiver wire moment, I dropped Jaylen Samuels to pick up a wide receiver because Conner was supposedly healthy. Oops. It might be worth looking for Samuels on waivers in case someone in your league did the same thing. We don’t yet know the extent of Conner’s aggravated right shoulder injury, so keep an eye on his status as Week 12 approaches. In addition to Conner’s injury, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster left the game with a concussion, so his situation will need to be monitored as well. And, Steelers, what happened to your defense?

But let us move on from Thursday’s madness. It’s time to make your final lineup adjustments.

Week 11 Injury Report

The injuries have been piling up, so be sure to check the status of your players before kickoff. Notables to monitor or bench include:

Out

UPDATE: Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (hip/back) will be sidelined again, and backup Jeff Driskel will get the start under center.

UPDATE: Texans wide receiver Will Fuller (hamstring) has been ruled out against the Ravens. Kenny Stills will continue to act as the number two receiver in Fuller’s absence.

UPDATE: Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green (ankle) will be out again this week, so Auden Tate should continue to see a steady workload.

UPDATE: Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Carolina, so expect Brian Hill to lead the Atlanta backfield.

UPDATE: Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds (hamstring) has been ruled out for a third consecutive game. Kenyan Drake and David Johnson will lead the backfield as a committee.

UPDATE: Falcons tight end Austin Hooper (knee) won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Panthers.

UPDATE: Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars. Parris Campbell (hand) is also out, which leaves Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers, and Marcus Johnson to lead the Colts’ receiving line for Week 11.

UPDATE: Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (hamstring) is out for another week. The Vikings activated Josh Doctson off Injured Reserve.

UPDATE: Bears tight end Trey Burton (calf) has been placed on Injured Reserve.

UPDATE: Rams WR Brandin Cooks (concussion) is progressing through the concussion protocol, but they are holding him out another week. Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Josh Reynolds will continue to shoulder the receiving workload.

Doubtful

UPDATE: 49ers tight end George Kittle (knee/ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.

UPDATE: Eagles running back Jordan Howard (shoulder) is not expected to play today, which means Miles Sanders will serve as lead running back. Sanders could be a sneaky sleeper this week.

Questionable

UPDATE: Ravens wide receiver Marquise Brown (ankle) returned to practice in a limited fashion, so there is a chance he’ll get to play in Sunday’s game.

UPDATE: Bears running back David Montgomery (ankle) will be a game-time decision. Kickoff is at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday against the Rams, so fantasy owners should take that into consideration while planning.

UPDATE: 49ers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (ribs) remains on the questionable list after failing to practice Wednesday through Friday. Sanders reportedly said he will try to play in Sunday’s game against the Cardinals, which kicks off at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday.

UPDATE: Jets running back Le’Veon Bell (ribs, knee, illness) logged limited practices on Thursday and Friday and is unofficially considered “likely” to play on Sunday.

NEW: Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams (personal) is listed as Questionable for Monday night’s game against the Chargers in Mexico City.

Active

UPDATE: Quarterback Nick Foles (collarbone) returns from his extended absence to reclaim the starting quarterback position for the Jaguars. Minshew Mania has run its course, at least for now.

UPDATE: Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan (ankle) will be active for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. Ryan will be without Austin Hooper (knee) and Devonta Freeman (foot).

UPDATE: Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett (knee) will start against the Jaguars on Sunday.

UPDATE: Panthers starting running back Christian McCaffrey (foot) practiced fully on Thursday and Friday and carries no injury designation.

UPDATE: Lions running back Ty Johnson (concussion) has been removed from the injury report after being a full participant in Friday’s practice.

UPDATE: Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper (knee, ankle) carries no injury designation, so he will play in Detroit against the Lions on Sunday.

UPDATE: Jaguars wide receiver Dede Westbrook (neck/shoulder) is active for the first time since Week 8 and will be playing with quarterback Nick Foles, who is returning from a collarbone injury.

UPDATE: Redskins running back Derrius Guice (knee) is returning for Week 11. Although he will be working behind Adrian Peterson, he will have ample opportunities to contribute on Sunday against the Jets.

Now go set your lineups so you can relax, enjoy the games and have a great fantasy week.
