Fanelli’s Fave Five Prop Bets for SNF: Washington Football Team vs. Dallas Cowboys

Tonight we have a matchup between the Washington Football Team and the Dallas Cowboys. While fans will have their eyes glued to the game, watching every play with the utmost attention, gamblers only care about making money. However, which bets will lead to cash in their pockets? Here are my five favorite prop bets for tonight’s game.

Dak Prescott Under 280.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Prescott was unstoppable to begin the season, averaging 302.2 passing yards per game over the first six weeks. However, he has struggled lately. Over the past three weeks, Prescott has averaged only 222 passing yards per game, throwing for under 240 yards in all three games. Furthermore, Prescott had under 220 passing yards in two straight games, including two weeks ago against Washington. Meanwhile, Washington has given up an average of 271.6 passing yards per game this season to quarterbacks. However, they have played better lately. Over the past seven games, Washington has held quarterbacks to only 232.1 passing yards per game. Furthermore, they held quarterbacks to under 250 passing yards in all but one of those contests. Expect Dak to continue to struggle and throw for under 280 yards.

Terry McLaurin Under 59.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

The third-year wide receiver had high expectations this season. However, between injuries and inconsistent quarterback play, McLaurin has averaged only 61.4 receiving yards per game this year. By comparison, he averaged 74.5 receiving yards per game in 2020. More importantly, McLaurin has totaled under 59.5 receiving yards in 57.1 percent of the games this season, including six of the past seven games. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have held wide receivers to 171.9 receiving yards per game this season. However, they have held wide receivers to only 148.8 receiving yards per game over the past six weeks. Expect Trevon Diggs to make McLaurin’s life difficult tonight, keeping him from hitting the over on this prop bet.

Ezekiel Elliott Under 55.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

While Zeke was once considered the best running back in football, he has struggled this season. He is averaging a career-low 61.6 rushing yards per game this season, nearly 50 rushing yards per game less than his rookie year. More importantly, Zeke is dealing with a knee injury that has impacted his play. Over the past eights games, he has averaged only 42.6 rushing yards per game. Furthermore, Zeke had under 53 rushing yards in all eight of those contests. Meanwhile, Washington has held running backs to only 75.3 rushing yards per game this season, the sixth-fewest in the NFL. Washington has also held running backs under 95 rushing yards in all but one game this season. Between the injury and the matchup, Zeke will struggle in tonight’s game.

Taylor Heinicke Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-190)

After missing last week’s game because of Covid-19 protocols, Heinicke will start tonight. However, he has been far from consistent this season. Heinicke has averaged 1.5 passing touchdowns per game this season, throwing for one or fewer touchdowns in 61.5 percent of the contests. Furthermore, he has thrown for under 1.5 passing touchdowns in seven of his past nine games, including against Dallas two weeks ago. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have held quarterbacks to only 1.3 passing touchdowns per game this season, the fifth-fewest in the NFL. They have held quarterbacks to under 1.5 passing touchdowns in seven of their past eight games. Given how Micah Parsons and the Dallas defense have played lately, Heinicke is more likely to get benched tonight than throw two or more touchdown passes.

Amari Cooper Under 4.5 Receptions (-145)

Last season, Cooper averaged a career-high 5.8 receptions per game. However, he has regressed this season, averaging only 4.4 receptions per game, his lowest average since joining the Cowboys. Cooper has also lost the No. 1 wide receiver role to emerging superstar CeeDee Lamb. Furthermore, Cooper has only four games this season with over 4.5 receptions. More importantly, he had 13 receptions in Week 1, accounting for 24.5 percent of his season total. Since Week 1, Cooper has averaged only 3.6 receptions per game. He has also averaged only three receptions per game over the past five contests. Meanwhile, Washington has held wide receivers to under 12 receptions in just under half their games this season. Given his recent struggles, expect a quiet performance from Cooper in this contest.
