Travis Etienne has Over 1,400 Scrimmage Yards

New head coach Urban Meyer has always had his multi-tool weapon wherever he has coached. At Florida, he had Percy Harvin. At Ohio State, he had Curtis Samuel. With that in mind, it’s no surprise Meyer wanted to pick Kadarius Toney with the Jaguars’ 25th overall draft pick. However, when the New York Giants selected Toney 20th overall, the Jaguars turned to Etienne. Despite James Robinson, expect Etienne to become a focal point of the offense. Not only is Etienne a threat to take any rushing attempt to the house, but he can be a factor in several ways in the passing game. Expect the Jaguars to design 13-17 plays a game to get the ball in Etienne’s hands, allowing him to turn into a scrimmage yards machine.

Trevor Lawrence Breaks the Rookie Passing Touchdown Record

This record has been tied once and broken twice since Peyton Manning set it in 1998 with 26. Russell Wilson tied the record in 2012 while Baker Mayfield broke it with 27 touchdowns in 2018. Then Justin Herbert set the current record last season with 31 touchdowns. Of the five quarterbacks selected in the first round, Zach Wilson and Lawrence are the only two expected to start Week 1. In addition to adding his college teammate, Etienne, the Jaguars gave Lawrence plenty of weapons. They added veteran receivers Marvin Jones and Phillip Dorsett to pair with DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault. With an extra game this season, and plenty of weapons, Lawrence should have no trouble breaking the rookie passing touchdown record.

James Robinson Rushes for Under 1,000 Yards

Last year’s undrafted star finished the year with 1,070 rushing yards in 14 games. However, the Jaguars did everything possible to keep Robinson from going over 1,000 rushing yards again this season. Not only did they use their second first-round pick on Etienne, but they also upgraded at quarterback and wide receiver. Last season, Robinson had his number called on 32 percent of the Jaguar plays. With the additions of Lawrence, Etienne, Jones, and others, the Jaguars won’t need to rely on Robinson as much this season. Even if Robinson matches his 4.5 yards per rushing attempt from last season, he would need 223 rushing attempts to go over 1,000 rushing yards. Robinson will need an injury to Etienne to go over the 1,000-yard rushing mark again this season.
