While the 2021 NFL season is still months away, it is never too early to prepare for the fantasy season. Whether it’s research, mock drafts, or going with your gut, everyone has a way to prepare for their fantasy drafts. However, this isn’t another article to help you prepare for the fantasy season. Today, I am going to give three bold fantasy predictions for the Carolina Panthers in 2021.

D.J. Moore Finishes the Year as a Top-12 Wide Receiver
Many were expecting Moore to have the third-year wide receiver breakout. While he did have a career-high 1,193 receiving yards, he got used in a role that didn’t fit him best. Over the first two years of his career, Moore averaged 13.9 yards per catch. By comparison, Moore averaged 18.1 yards per catch last season, ranking seventh among wide receivers with at least 800 receiving yards. Despite taking half a season to get used to his new role, Moore finished as the WR25. However, over the final six games of the season, Moore averaged 9.3 targets and 15.8 fantasy points per game. With Curtis Samuel in Washington, Moore is in line to take over his role and turn into a weekly must-start fantasy wide receiver.
Christian McCaffrey Scores Over 450 Total Fantasy Points
McCaffrey dealt with serious injuries for the first time in his NFL career last season, missing 13 games. However, in the three games he played, McCaffrey averaged 30.1 fantasy points per game. Over a 16 game pace, McCaffrey would have scored 481.6 fantasy points after scoring 471.2 in 2019. The Panthers will lighten his workload by giving rookie Chuba Hubbard more than the 46 touches all the other running backs on the roster had combined in 2019. However, between being the best running back in the NFL and his guaranteed 100 plus catches, the only way McCaffrey doesn’t score over 450 fantasy points is because of an injury. He is the clear-cut 1.01 pick regardless of scoring or format.
No Panther Tight End Finishes in the Top-50
Last season the Panthers’ tight ends combined for 27 catches on 41 targets for 204 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 3.9 fantasy points per game. However, the Panthers weren’t aggressive in adding a tight end in free agency or the draft. Instead, the Panthers signed former Arizona Cardinal Dan Arnold and spent a third-round pick on Tommy Tremble. Last season, Arnold averaged six fantasy points per game. Meanwhile, rookie tight ends rarely make a fantasy impact. Unless the Panthers trade for a veteran like Jimmy Graham or David Njoku between now and the start of the season, there is no reason to consider drafting a Panther tight end.
