The second the clock hit zero in the Titans’ upset over the Patriots, it began. Is it the end of the dynasty? Will Tom Brady retire? Will he be back with the Patriots? Could he really play for another team?
If Brady decides to continue playing with someone other than the Patriots, here are six teams he would fit right in with.
Los Angeles Chargers
Philip Rivers is a free agent and likely won’t be back. The Chargers have a formidable one-two punch at running back in Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler, although Gordon will likely walk in free agency. Brady would also have a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver Keenan Allen. This makes a lot of sense for both the Chargers and Brady.
Carolina Panthers
What more could a rookie head coach ask for than a future Hall of Fame quarterback and a top-five running back in Christian McCaffrey? The receiving core is a little young, which may deter Brady. But with the uncertainty at the quarterback position, this makes plenty of sense for the Panthers.
Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones might not be on board, but this would be an interesting fit. New head coach Mike McCarthy would love to go from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers to Tom Brady. Brady might not make such a decision, but with Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper on this offense, he would at least consider it.
Tennessee Titans
Sure, they are still in the midst of their playoff run. But both quarterbacks currently on their roster have contracts that expire this season. Ryan Tannehill could have very well played himself into a big-time contract, but it might not be in Nashville. Marcus Mariota might consider a hometown discount to stay, but that ship has sailed with the team’s front office. Brady would play for his former teammate, Mike Vrabel. In addition to the task of re-signing Derrick Henry, the Titans have talent at receiver and tight end and their defense will keep them in games. This may be the perfect fit for Brady. He has said he has more to prove; the nucleus is already in place in Tennessee.
Las Vegas Raiders
Derek Carr. Is he really Jon Gruden’s guy? Even after the Raiders signed him to an extension prior to the start of this season, that remained unclear. Tom Brady likely did not have Vegas or the silver and black on his career bucket list, but it would definitely be a splash for the team in their new city.
Denver Broncos
This one is a longshot. Drew Lock is their guy going into next season, but the thought of a Hall of Famer and team president John Elway being able to land both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady is thrilling.
