Loui Eriksson, one-time Boston Bruins, is now enjoying World Championship with the team Sweden as the Vancouver Canucks once again missed the playoffs. The Bruins fans will certainly remember Eriksson, whom the Bruins acquired in that Tyler Seguin trade with the Dallas Stars in 2013.

Eriksson ended up playing 222 games with Boston collecting 147 points. He made the playoffs with the Bruins just once, in his very first season. In that 2014 playoff short run, Eriksson combined for two goals and three assists in 12 playoff games. The Bruins lost him in 2016 via free agency. In neither of his three years in Vancouver Eriksson surpassed 30 points per campaign.

Now the Bruins are in the Stanley Cup Final as they will try to pursue the ultimate hockey trophy coming next week. “Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any of the Bruins games in the playoffs. It’s impossible for me to track them live as we are in Europe now and I have to focus on the other things,” said Loui Eriksson, who admitted, that he is still in contact with few of the Bruins players.

“I think they have really combined for a fantastic group and are playing some great hockey. I’m still in touch with few of the Bruins players, we would chat or talk sometimes about hockey too,” said Eriksson in an interview with the Slovak media.

How is Loui Eriksson feeling about the group of the Bruins players?

“As I said already, they have really a very talented group and are sticking together. Players like Zdeno Chara, Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, they already know how does it feel like to win the Stanley Cup. That’s their huge advantage that is going to definitely help them on the way.”

The Swedish veteran forward had some kind words about the Bruins captain Zdeno Chara as well.

“Zee is a very honest and humble person. He has it all what does it take to be the great captain and leader. That’s a kind of a player any team would like to have. He has tremendous respect, not only in the Bruins locker room but also around the NHL as well. It still amazes me how is he possible to keep playing at this stage with this age at the highest possible level and with so much enthusiasm and dedication,” reflected Loui Eriksson.

Does Loui Eriksson see the Bruins as the favorites to claim the Stanley Cup? “I have no time left to watch the games, but I’m always keen to watch highlights and based on them I would say they are playing very good hockey. I don’t know how their play looks overall, but they have a great group. I’m interested to see whom the Bruins face in the Cup final. But certainly, they have big chance to win it all, it’s not a coincidence that they are that far in the playoffs,” said Eriksson.

By the time the Bruins would finish their preparations for the Stanley Cup Final, Loui Eriksson will hope to win his second gold medal from the World Championship with Sweden, as they are poised to win the tournament for the third consecutive year.
