New England Patriots fans and pundits have speculated on Rob Gronkowski’s return ever since he announced his retirement.

Even to the point where owner Robert Kraft said that the former tight end has not signed his retirement papers and is also hoping for something to change on that front.

Now the most notable player on the current roster Julian Edelman has come forward in regards to his former teammate.

The Super Bowl MVP told reporters that he would welcome his former teammate back anytime.

“Yeah I don’t know,” Edelman said. If he does [come back], hey, that’s awesome. We need it.”

Edelman is not wrong when he says the team needs help at the position. The most experienced tight ends when it comes to regular season play Ryan Izzo and Matt LaCosse  will most likely sit out.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Watson has yet to play a game that matters for the team and Eric Tomlinson has only practiced in New England for a few days.

Gronkowski recently told WEEI’s Greg Hill on his show that he will stay retired giving no further indication that the former All-Pro will don No.87 again.
