The Eagles, whose last lead in the game came less than three minutes into the first half, were no match for the Tar Heels lighting offense. North Carolina (13-4, 2-2) shot an even 50 percent from the field and was 100 percent from the free throw line, while Eagles only managed a 38 percent shooting rate from the field.

The Tar Heels also beat the Eagles badly in rebounds, as they outrebounded Boston College by 35.

North Carolina’s junior forward Luke Maye led the team in both scoring and in rebounds with career-high numbers, scoring 32 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. With this standout performance, Maye became the first Tar Heel to record at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in a home game since Antawn Jamison in 1997-98.

The Eagles were led by sophomore guard Ky Bowman, who scored 21 points, shooting 8-18 from the field. Freshman forward Steffon Mitchell earned his second double-double of the season, scoring 11 points along with 10 rebounds. Junior guards Jerome Robinson and Jordan Chatman both scored 15 and 11 points respectively.
