Dynasty Fantasy Football: Trade Targets for Contending Teams

fantasy

The thing that makes dynasty fantasy football so fun is the moves that can be made both during and before the season starts. When looking at your team, if you determine you are a contender, it’s time to make a push. Most contenders are usually just a piece or two away from making that championship run. Below are some potential trade targets that will help turn that contending roster into a league winner. These guys can all be had at fairly discounted costs and will certainly help you make that push. However, the downfall is they may only provide value for the next season.

Be sure to check out the rest of our fantasy football content.

Derek Carr, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

If you are a championship contender, you likely already have a bonafide QB1. However, having a good No. 2 quarterback in super flex leagues is very important. Carr is just that and is a perfect option because of his consistent play. He will put up good numbers but because he doesn’t offer much rushing upside his fantasy numbers are limited. Despite that, he was still QB12 last season with limited weapons. Furthermore, Carr will be reuniting with his No. 1 receiver from college, Davante Adams. The addition of Adams will be huge for Carr and his fantasy outlook. Going into his ninth NFL season and with the best offense, he has had in his career, look for Carr to have a tremendous year.

Devin Singletary, RB, Buffalo Bills

Singletary was able to keep control of Buffalo’s backfield last season. However, they added James Cooks to the mix after they drafted him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. That caused a drop in Singletary’s value as his long-term value may be in flux. However, for this season expect numbers similar to what he put up last season. Especially, what he was able to do in the final four regular season games. In those games, Singletary had 71 total carries for 323 rushing yards. That comes out to 4.5 yards per carry and he added six total touchdowns. Moreover, including the playoffs, Singletary scored a touchdown in six straight games. If you need a running back for 2022 at a discount, Singletary is your guy.

Russell Gage, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Gage has an excellent shot this year of being a breakout candidate. After spending four years in Atlanta, he decided to move on and slot into a Buccaneers offense with the greatest quarterback in the NFL. Furthermore, with Rob Gronkowski retired and Chris Godwin’s injury questions, there will be a big chunk of vacated targets for Gage. In this high-powered offense expect him to be in the mix especially early in the season. If he can get on the same page with Tom Brady early in camp even when Godwin returns he will still get his share of targets.

Zach Ertz, TE, Arizona Cardinals

Ertz is getting older, and with the addition of Trey McBride, his outlook after this season is not great. However, this year if you need a tight end, Ertz can be your guy. He joined Arizona midseason last year and while it took a little bit of an adjustment period he was excellent the last few games of the year. In the final four games, he saw 43 targets, catching 28, for 253 receiving yards. That averages out to 10.75 targets, seven receptions, and 63.25 yards per game. In PPR scoring throughout a full season that would have been good for TE3 last season and that’s without touchdowns. Ertz should provide plenty of value this season and can be had at a cheap cost.
