Just seven games to break down in MLB DFS tonight. Stephen Strasburg is the number one pitcher option in a tough matchup at Atlanta. After that, is a whole bunch of mediocrity. A strategy that is likely to be popular will be rostering two mid-tier pitchers to go along with some higher-priced bats. Minnesota will face Nathan Eovaldi at Fenway, the Rays get a home matchup against Trent Thornton and the Jays, and the ‘Stros will look to tee off at home against Marco Gonzalez and the Mariners. Let’s “Step into a Slim-Jim” and go Around the Horn!
PITCHER
Kolby Allard TEX $7,700
We can get some good value out of Allard(hopefully) tonight versus a Baltimore team that ranks in the lower tier of many offensive categories. The O’s are actually hitting decently off of left-handed pitching this season with their .260 average(11th) and 62 homers(10th). Here’s where it gets dicey for them when matched up against southpaws this season. They have the sixth-highest K rate at 24.9%, just a .161 wOBA(24th), and a 32.0% hard-hit rate ranks them way down the list at number 28 overall. Allard, who is new on the scene so to speak, has given up just two earned runs in his last two outings racking up 12 Ks in 12 innings in wins over the Mariners and White Sox.
INFIELD
Alex Bregman 3B HOU $4,900
Lock this one up kids, Bregman is a borderline must tonight. Chomp on these numbers over the last 10 games (before Wednesday nights action): 19-for-40, 10 RBI and 13.1 DK pts per game. How about the head-to-head battle versus Mariners starter Marco Gonzalez? More domination, 7-for-14, including a double and a triple. Oh yeah and Bregman smashes versus lefties this season. .331 with 11 taters in 133 at-bats.
Jose Altuve 2B HOU $4,500
Let’s continue our Astros infield with Jose Altuve who also punishes southpaws, and Mariner pitching for that matter. Altuve is hitting almost .400(.389) with 9 of his 25 dingers in just 95 at-bats off lefties. He is also 5-for-13 with four runs scored and has a homer off of Gonzalez. Altuve is also averaging a healthy 11.9 DK pts per game and has four big-flies in nine contests versus Seattle this season.
OUTFIELD
Austin Meadows TB $4,600
The Rays and Austin Meadows profile really well tonight at home versus Trent Thornton and the Blue Jays. Thornton is 0-1 with an 11.12 ERA with six homers given up in three games this season versus Tampa. The Rays have compiled a .400 average with a 1.235 OPS and a .380 ISO as a result. Meadows is nearly perfect against Thornton this season, 6-for-7 with three home runs. Meadows has also demolished the Jays this season: 12 games, 5 HRs, 11 RBI, .420, 14 DK pts per game.
Kyle Schwarber CHC $4,800
The Cubbies set up nice at Miller Park as they will face the Brew Crew and right-handed starter Chase Anderson. Anderson got touched up August 30th at Wrigley as he allowed five earned runs in four innings of work, he also surrendered two round-trippers. Schwarber has had good success at Miller Park this season, in six games he has gone 5-for-18 with two homers and 8 RBI. Over his last 10 contests, Schwarber has gone deep four times while hitting a hefty .375. He has also averaged almost 12 DK pts per game(11.7) during that span.
Good luck to everyone tonight, keep grinding out those lineups!
