L.A. Dodgers ace Walker Buehler appears to be the safest option at SP1. However, a couple of lesser-priced options are a good way to balance out your lineup. Houston is facing Dylan Bundy and the Orioles at hitter-friendly Camden Yards. The Yankees are facing another one of the Blue Jays young prospects. The Red Sox are in plus-matchup at home to the Angels and the Padres are at home against Kyle Freeland who has really hit the skids of late. These are all prime spots for high scoring totals. Let’s get the weekend kicked off right and go Around the Horn!
PITCHER
Yu Darvish $9,200 CHC
Just above mid-tier, we find guys like Darvish, Wade Miley, just bellow is Chris Archer. Miley and Darvish are both in good spots and that’s where my attention will be. Darvish seems to have solved some of his control issues as he has just six BB in his last six starts. Against the Cincinnati Reds, he has been very good averaging a nice 20.5 DK pts per game. The Reds are considered at best an average team offensively. They have scored 63 runs over their last two weeks which sits them 14th in baseball. For the entire season, they have scored 132 runs versus right-handed pitching which ranks them 20th.
INFIELD
Fernando Tatis Jr. $5,600 SD SS
If we do in fact pay down for lower-priced options at pitcher we will have room for players in advantageous spots. The Padres will get an opportunity to face a really struggling pitcher in Kyle Freeland and a team that struggles away from Coors in the Colorado Rockies. Freeland has been dinged up pretty good in 22 innings of work to start the second half of the season, Hitters have amassed a .326 average against him and his ERA sits at 7.54 during the time span. Let’s hope Tatis can continue his incredible rookie campaign, he is averaging 12 DK pts per game in his last 10.
Yuli Gurriel $5,000 HOU 1B
Two back-to-back monster games for Gurriel (33 and 39 Pt performances). This season has truly been impressive for the 35-year old first baseman. Bundy held his own in his only start versus the ‘Stros giving up just two earned runs in a loss May 9th, but Gurriel has now cemented himself as an elite option at either first or third. His previous 10 games have given us a good return as he has averaged 11.7 DK pts per game while driving in 15 runs.
OUTFIELD
Josh Reddick $3,600 HOU
Reddick has hit a bit of a dip of late hitting just .182 in his last 10 games. Perhaps a trip to Camden Yards will be just what the doctor ordered for the veteran outfielder. Reddick should also feel good about the fact that he has done very well off of Bundy as he is 7-for-13 with a 1.077 OPS. Nothing wrong with taking a flyer at 3.6 K on someone who is for the most part very consistent.
Hunter Renfroe $4,500 SD
We have some good BvP numbers to back us here as Renfroe has gone 5-for-15 with a dinger and three ribeyes’ off of Freeland. Renfroe, who could be considered streaky giving the all-or-nothing nature to his game, has reached a career-high in home runs this year with 30. The Padres profile as a good stacking team on this full Friday night slate. The price point is fair for Renfroe as he also hits lefties very well this season, .262 with 11 homers in 84 at-bats.
