Final Score: Dallas Cowboys 40, New York Giants 0

The Dallas Cowboys marched into MetLife Stadium and then left with a shutout victory over the New York Giants. While the Cowboys do have the Giants’ number, no one expected this massacre. The game started out with a promising drive from the Giants; however, the field goal attempt was blocked by Juanyeh Thomas and was returned for a touchdown by Noah Igbinoghene. From that point, everything appeared to go Dallas’ way.

The Cowboys didn’t need much from quarterback Dak Prescott or the offense because their defense had everything covered. Prescott and the offense looked a little rusty, but the defense more than made up for it. More importantly, Prescott did not turn over the ball.

The offense for the Giants did not do Daniel Jones any favors by allowing him to be sacked seven times, and besides his two interceptions, there was at least one more turnover by the offense. The coaching staff will also have to answer for why Jones was still in the game, especially with the way his offensive line was not keeping Dallas’ defense away from him.

Looking Forward

This was a Sunday night matchup that was supposed to be a barn burner or, at the very least, interesting. Both teams were supposed to have improved, but it looked as if the defense of Dallas improved the most.

Dallas seems to have New York on their mind as they will face the New York Jets on September 17 at AT&T Stadium. It will be interesting to see if Prescott will not be so rusty and if the defense will still be aiming to do to the Jets what they did to the Giants.

New York will be facing the Arizona Cardinals on September 17, so hopefully, it gives them a soft place to land to lick their wounds. It would be in their best interest to figure out a way to shore up their offensive line to keep Jones safe.
