Chyna J. Thomas, the 22-year-old sister of Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas, passed away in a one-car accident Saturday morning in Tacoma, Washington, according to authorities.
Witnesses say the car drifted off the road and jumped a Jersey barrier before drifting into a pole.
The Celtics released a statement in the wake of the news reading, “We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Celtics organization are with Isaiah and his family.”
The Celtics open up the NBA playoff tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. against the Chicago Bulls and Thomas is expected to be in uniform.
