The Chicago Bears will head into this year’s draft with a completely new front office. They are going to have some work to do with only five total draft picks. One position they won’t have to worry about though is the quarterback position. However, that came at a cost after former general manager Ryan Pace traded their 2022 first and fourth-round picks in last year’s draft to move up for Justin Fields. Furthermore, they traded their seventh-round pick along with Anthony Miller to the Houston Texans for their fifth-round pick. With limited picks, new general manager Ryan Poles will have a tough task ahead of him this offseason.

Round 2, Pick 39: Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington
The Bears were in desperate need of a corner opposite Jaylon Johnson last season. If Gordon is there, he will be tough to pass on with this pick. With Gordon having played college football in the PAC-12 he along with many others seem to get overlooked on the west coast. However, he has a ton of potential and may even have a higher ceiling than college teammate Trent McDuffie who will likely be a first-round pick. If selected, Gordon would be the third cornerback in three consecutive drafts the Bears have selected out of the PAC-12.

Round 3, Pick 71: George Pickens, WR, Georgia
Pickens has a ton of talent but due to injuries, he should slip in the draft. The combine is going to be important for him because of his limited play the past few seasons. However, if he has a good showing in the combine it could put Pickens out of reach for the Bears. Especially, if he has a good 40 time. We already know he can catch just about anything so if he shows the speed he will likely be an early second-round pick. However, if Pickens does fall to this pick he would be the perfect receiver opposite Darnell Mooney.

Round 5, pick 147: Tyrese Robinson, iOL, Oklahoma
The Bears seem to be set at tackle this season after having drafted Larry Borom and Teven Jenkins last year. They still may decide to sign a tackle but they likely won’t be drafting one. Instead, in the draft, they need to focus on the interior. Especially, considering they allowed league-high 58 sacks last season. Pass protection will be key and Robinson would be just that for Chicago. At Oklahoma this past season, he was graded at 84.2 in pass protection by Pro Football Focus. The bottom line is Fields needs more protection and Robinson will help with that.
Round 5, Pick 149: Otito Ogbonnia, DL, UCLA
Akiem Hicks is scheduled to hit free agency in March and Eddie Goldman is expected to be cut. That will leave a hole in the middle of the Bears’ defensive line. Ogbonnia isn’t much of a pass rusher but the Bears can get by without the pressure up the middle because of their edge rushers. However, Ogbonnia can be a serviceable run stopper and displayed that at UCLA last season racking up five tackles for a loss. If the Bears can develop his technique he could be a good rotational guy for the next few years.
Round 6, Pick 184: Tre Turner, WR, Virginia Tech
Poles said early on in one of his press conferences that he will be focusing on speed in the draft. Turner has just that. He was a four-star recruit, but Virginia Tech struggled at times because of their quarterback play. In his game tape, Turner shows plenty of speed with the ability to take a screen to the house. He also showed the speed and burst to get by cornerbacks on deeper routes. Turner would be a solid developmental third or fourth receiver for Fields and the offense. If the coaches can develop Turner’s route tree, he could become a very solid receiver and a high upside day three pick for Chicago.
