Celtics On Worst Losing Streak This Season Following Loss to Trail Blazers

The entire month of February was an ugly one for the Boston Celtics. Things didn’t get any better last night.

On the second night of a back-to-back, the Celtics fell to the Portland Trail Blazers 97-92 at TD Garden.

Shooting from beyond the arc continued to be a problematic area for the Celtics, who went just 5-28 on those shots after going 6-30 last night in Toronto.

Things seemed to be looking up towards the end of January, a month where the Celtics went 11-4. As far as individual play, Gordon Hayward also started morphing into the All-Star forward we saw in Utah, averaging nearly 20 points per game in the last four games.

We got to February, and that positive trend now appears to be fools gold. Boston kicked off the month with three straight wins, but followed that by blowing two monstrous leads against the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.

Fast forward a couple weeks, and the Celtics close the month on a four-game losing streak; their longest of the bumpy year. Furthermore, that is the worst active streak in the entire NBA, with the Dallas Mavericks finally picking up a win against Indiana to avoid their sixth-straight loss.

The Celtics have now dropped to 37-25 in the league, and sit at fifth in the East. They will look to improve that record starting on March 1, in a home game against the Washington Wizards.
