Celtics Notebook: New Year, New Uniform

A Thursday matchup in New York saw the Knicks take one from the Celtics, 102-93. The New York win was led by Michael Beasley, who had 32 points. Kyrie Irving also had 32 points for Boston.

A trip home proved beneficial for the Celtics, as they beat the Bulls 117-92 on Saturday. Irving had 25 points in the win and Bobby Portis led the way for Chicago with 17 points.

The Wizards got the better of the Celtics on Christmas day, 111-103, thanks to 25 points from Bradley Beal and 21 points and 14 assists from John Wall. Jayson Tatum and Irving each contributed 20 points for Boston.

A Wednesday night game against the Charlotte Hornets pitted Kyrie Irving against Kemba Walker in a matchup of star point guards. Walker’s 24 points got the better of Irving’s 21, but the Celtics came away with the win, 102-91.

Nike releases “City” uniforms

The Celtics will be wearing a new uniform for a few games this season. As part of the Nike’s new “City” collection, the Celtics now have a gray uniform with green numbers and letters. The uniform also features a “parquet pattern” similar to their court and the 2008 Championship banner on the waistband.

Tatum lights it up on Christmas

Jayson Tatum shined on the national stage of a Christmas Day game, scoring 20 points on 7-9 shooting. The rookie wing went 2-2 from beyond the arc and contributed three rebounds in the loss.

Nine of his 20 points came in the fourth quarter as Boston’s comeback fell just short.
