The Boston Celtics were absolutely dominant in their 105-83 game No. 6 victory over the Chicago Bulls. The Celtics have now won their first playoff series since 2012, winning four straight games after falling behind 0-2.
The Bulls had no answer for the Celtics, giving up a 10-point lead early in the first quarter. From that point the lead slowly swelled to as much as 30. Simply put, The Bulls never stood a chance. Period.
For Boston the offensive charge was led by Avery Bradley, who tied Jimmy Butler with a game-high 23 points. All five of Boston’s starters scored in double figures, while Chicago’s only other player in double figures was Robin Lopez (10).
Bradley notched his second straight game with at least 20 points, a welcome sign as many have criticized Boston’s lack of a consistent scorer behind Isaiah Thomas.
While there is no question that this series changed after the injury to Rajon Rondo in game No. 2, don’t discredit the mind of Brad Stevens in turning the series around. His decision to start Gerald Green paid dividends, allowing the Celtics to overwhelm the Bulls with their superior athleticism and long range shooting.
Celebrations will be short-lived as the Celtics begin game No. 1 against the Washington Wizards on Sunday at 1 p.m. Look for the team to expand its streak of quality performances with good ball movement, rebounding and perimeter scoring. This is sure to be a series to remember.
