We saw a major shift in college basketball last week. Tons of upsets were had, there’s a new number one, and the playing field is much more even. For the first time in weeks, the AP Poll looks much different this week and there’s lots to discuss, so let’s get into it.

Auburn Deserves No. 1 Spot

Despite receiving more first-place votes, Auburn is second to Gonzaga. They have run through some good SEC teams this year and haven’t lost since the first week of the season. The Tigers have shown they can beat better competition than Gonzaga can. They should be first, and could very well be next week with another vote.

Perfect Fall for UCLA

A lot of people are overreacting to UCLA’s loss to Oregon, but we have to be realistic. This was their first game since December 10, it showed, and Oregon was a tough matchup. The Ducks beat USC after that game and have proven they are back in the Pac-12 race. UCLA will bounce back soon and rise right back from this.

Texas Tech Heating Up; Still Way Too Low

In the past two weeks, Texas Tech has played as well as any team in the country. The Red Raiders have knocked off both Baylor and Kansas during this stretch, and have shown that their inconsistencies are gone. Though they have four losses, this team needs to be ranked higher until they cool off.
