Welcome to another edition of Cap’n Kielar’s Best Bets! I have hit a cold streak but let’s look to get back on track today. Even the greatest baseball players fail seven out of ten times.

Place your bets with Jazz Sportsbook for the best lines and promos.

Overall record: 10-12

Jerami Grant over 21.5 points

Grant is the Pistons’ leading scorer with 23.3 points per game and plays a New Orleans Pelicans team that has allowed about 22 PPG to forwards. Grant has failed to hit the over the last two games, but he blasted the over the previous two against the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers. The Pelicans have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league after an encouraging start to the season. To score 32 points against the Lakers, who are the most efficient defensive team in the league is a great sign for him to hit the over against a bad defensive team. Even though 11 of those points were two overtime periods, he already hit the over of 20 in regulation.

Nikola Jokic over 7.5 assists

The Joker leads the Nuggets in assists with 8.6 assists per game. In his last 10 games, that number has dropped a bit to just 6.8 APG, but that’s not a huge difference. Jokic has hit the over the last two games with nine and 12 assists, respectively. The Lakers have allowed 28.7 APG over the last three, the second-worst in the league, and are playing a formidable opponent after playing down to mediocre opponents of late. Jokic only had six assists in the last game against the Lakers, but he will show up for this national primetime game.

Arizona State vs. Oregon State (+5.0)

Arizona State has been awful against the spread this season with a 1-12-1 record ATS and 0-6 when they are at least a five-point favorite. Meanwhile, Oregon State has gone 9-8-1 ATS this season, but are only 2-3 ATS as at least a five-point underdog. But the last time these two teams met, the Beavers outlasted the Sun Devils 80-79 as six-point underdogs. This should be another tight game with Oregon State covering.

Maryland vs. Minnesota (+3.0)

Minnesota, led by Marcus Carr scoring 19-points – eight in the final minute, comes off a big win over Purdue. They are still searching for a road victory but the Terps have yet to reach the 70-point mark this season. Maryland plays tough defense and this will be a close game. Minnesota will be looking for revenge in this one, after losing by 14 in the last meeting. The win over Purdue was also a revenge victory as they had lost previously to the Boilermakers.
