This morning, the Boston Bruins announced the signing of former Notre Dame alum Anders Bjork with a three-year entry-level contract. Bjork was the Bruins 5th round pick in the 2014 NHL draft.

The signing will lead to a sigh of relief from many of the Bruins faithful. Rumors had been circulating that Bjork was contemplating returning to the Fighting Irish for a senior season in hopes to play in the Olympics or possibly to become a free agent.

Bjork was a superstar at Notre Dame. The speedy forward compiled 40 goals and 69 assists for a total of 109 points. Additionally, he was a fantastic +42 on the ice in his NCAA career.

He recently lead Notre Dame to this first Frozen Four appearance since 2011and also nominated for the Hobey Baker award which is given to the best collegiate player in the NCAA.

The 2017-2018 season may be Bjork’s rookie year, but he has a chance to make an immediate impact and possibly even take some minutes from returning Bruins players. Bjork is twenty years old and already has plenty of experience; including USA National Team experience on four different occasions. He most recently competed for USA in the World Junior Championships.
