The hockey off-season is the worst, isn’t it? While we begin the long wait for the 2018 NHL Draft, we will continue our series of Bruins grades!

Today we’ll be breaking down the performances of Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid.

Player: Adam McQuaid

Regular Season Stats: 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points, -1

Post Season Stats: 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 points, +/-0

Grade: C+

Adam McQuaid didn’t get much playing time outside of the postseason, but that isn’t really a bad thing.

It isn’t that McQuaid is a bad player or anything, he just doesn’t do much to set himself apart. He is your stereotypical big bodied defenseman whose size the Bruins can use to overpower opposing forwards.

McQuaid played less than half of the team’s regular-season games but was forced to play all of their postseason matchups due to the loss of Brandon Carlo.

There isn’t much else to say, the guy was by no means a liability, but he also didn’t do enough to give the Bruins an edge.

Player: Kevan Miller

Regular Season Stats: 1 goals, 15 assists, 16 points, +16

Post Season Stats: 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points, +2

Grade: A-

For a guy that missed a ton of games due to a flurry of injuries throughout the year, Kevan Miller had a pretty productive 2017-2018 campaign.

He had somewhat of a down season in 2016-2017, but this season his +/- rose 15 points to a +16. He also recorded 15 assists and a goal offensively over his 68 games.

Miller isn’t exactly a jack of all trades kind of guy, but he’s pretty darn good at what the Bruins ask him to do, and that’s to play smart defense.

He also recorded two key assists in the Bruins thrilling Game 7 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bruins fans have been frustrated all year by the decision to protect him over Colin Miller for the 2017 expansion draft, but while it certainly seems like Colin has become the better player, Kevan has still been a solid contributor for the Bruins blue line.
