Bruins Could Make History Tuesday

With their point streak on the line, the Boston Bruins will be without their two best players for at least another week.

Star rookie defenseman Charlie McAvoy has an irregular heartbeat and underwent a procedure to have it corrected. Brad Marchand meanwhile will remain suspended for the next four games for elbowing Marcus Johansson of the New Jersey Devils in the head.

Even without two of their best players, the Bruins have managed to extend their win streak to five games.

While winning five games in a row is nice, what’s even more impressive is the Bruins extended their point streak to a whopping 18 consecutive games.

The last time the Bruins lost a game in regulation was Dec. 14 against the Washington Capitals.

Boston hasn’t managed an 18 game point streak since the 1968-1969 season, and a win against Anaheim on Tuesday would give them their longest point streak since the 1940s.

Tuukka Rask is riding as well with an 18 point streak of his own. The starting net-minder 16-0-2 record since November 29th.

It remains to be seen how far this Bruins team can go, but with the team on the cusp of making team history without their two best players, it’s looking like this squad is a special one.
