Danton Heinen and the Boston Bruins organization have managed to avoid a salary arbitration meeting.
Heinen, a 24-year-old RFA forward, is known for his clutch play, and definitely isn’t afraid to get tough when it’s needed.
Those who don’t recognize the name will probably recognize Heinen’s play in which he set up Charlie Coyle via Marcus Johansson for a beautiful overtime game-winning goal in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Second Round against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The two-year extension has an average annual value of $2.8 million dollars, which is a sizable increase from the $925,000 Heinen made last year.
This deal leaves the Bruins with about $8,103,334, left according to CapFriendly.com.
The Bruins are currently looking to use that money to sign RFA defensemen Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo. Neither player has arbitration rights, and they must be signed before Dec. 1 in order to be eligible to play that season.
