Breaking: Stephon Gilmore Takes Home Defensive Player of the Year Honors

The Patriots may not be taking home the Lombardi Trophy this season, but the anchor of their elite defense was able to take home some hardware of his own.

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore has taken home Defensive Player of the Year honors.

In 2019, Gilmore reminded the football world why he was dubbed the league’s best corner the year prior, as he led the league in interceptions (six), as well as passes defended (20) en route to his second consecutive All-Pro nomination.

Not bad for someone who was dubbed as a contract bust after a few bad weeks in 2017.
