Breaking: Patriots to Place WR on IR

The New England Patriots will be placing wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell on short-term injured reserve, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

Mitchell, who re-aggravated a right-knee injury Aug. 19, was listed as questionable for tonight’s tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He can begin practicing with the club after six weeks, and won’t be able to suit up for a game until after week eight.

The 25-year old Goergia product hauled in 32 passes for 401 yards and four touchdowns last season.
