The 0-5 New York Jets have done the impossible. They have made their dumpster fire worse. After a few days of rumors about Le’Veon Bell’s future, the Jets and Joe Douglas have decided that enough drama has brewed. The Jets have officially released three-time Pro-Bowl running-back Bell.

Bell, 28, was signed by the Jets last offseason and has played in just 17 games since inking a four-year $52.4 million deal with New York. He was the second-highest player running back in the NFL and had $35 million guaranteed. Bell only amassed 789 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns as well as 66 receptions for 461 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown in an underwhelming 2019 campaign. At the 2019 trade deadline, there were trade rumors about Bell but Joe Douglas and Le’Veon Bell sorted all feelings out following that event.

Joe Douglas released the following statement:

Adam Gase and Bell have not been on the greatest of terms and have been noted disagreeing with usage on several occasions over Bell’s one plus seasons in New York.

The Jets now will feature rookie out of Florida La’Mical Perine and ageless veteran Frank Gore at running back.
