Boston University Fends off New Hampshire, 70-69

Boston University picked up a win against its former America East foe, New Hampshire, 70-69 on Wednesday.

The Terriers led 38-26 at halftime, only to see the Wildcats storm back in the final frame.

With 2:27 remaining New Hampshire’s Iba Camara connected on a jumped to knot the score at 67-67.

However, BU would buckle down on defense, forcing the Wildcats into two turnovers and a missed shotover the ensuing 1:02 and a Nick Havener layup made it a 69-67 contest with 25 seconds left.

It would take the Wildcats 13 seconds to respond as Tanner Leissner’ layup with 13 ticks to go, knotted the game at 69.

But, with three seconds remaining, Leissner would foul BU’s Javante McCoy, sending him to the line, where he made one attempt, to send the Terriers to the victory.

The Terriers’ Cedric Hankerson paced the club with 17 points over 33 minutes.

BU will be back on the court Tuesday at 7 p.m. when it visits No. 10 Miami (7-0).

More Money, More Problems.

I took a casual poll on whether or not college athletes should be paid or compensated when their respective university uses their image or likeness. The results were not as I expected. Out of about 100 people who responded, 72 of them said that college athletes should not be paid. This sample included people who had played and who were passionate about college athletics, people who were recently out of college and people who have been graduated for a long time. I personally voted that they should be compensated for their image being used for marketing or recruiting and in a way, they are with scholarships. But we all know that scholarships can only help so much.
