Bills’ Ed Oliver Arrested Saturday in Houston

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver was arrested in Houston late Saturday night.

Police officers in Montgomery County, Tex., pulled Oliver over in response to a 911 call from another driver. When officers approached Oliver’s vehicle, they found a beer can sitting between his legs. Officers gave him a field sobriety test and he was determined to be driving while impaired

Oliver was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he was administered a blood draw. The results of that draw have not been reported.

Officers did a search of Oliver’s vehicle and found a loaded weapon. One of the officers who responded to the 911 call believed that Oliver may have been under the influence of a substance other than alcohol. With that said, no drugs were found in his vehicle.

Oliver was traveling Texas State Highway 242 in a Ford super duty pickup and hauling a trailer that carried a dune buggy. The driver who made the 911 call said Oliver was driving through a 45 MPH construction zone and failed to maintain a lane.

Oliver was drafted by the Bills with the No. 9 selection in the 2019 NFL draft. He played in all 16 games, making seven starts, during his rookie season. He finished his rookie campaign with 43 tackles, nine sacks and a forced fumble.

The Bills released the following statement early Sunday morning after the news of Oliver’s arrest went public:

“We are aware of the situation and are gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this point.”

The NFL has not released a statement regarding the matter, nor has Oliver and his representatives.
