New England Patriots head coach surprisingly did not hold back his thoughts on Demaryius Thomas.

When asked about his former receiver, Belichick accepted the situation as it was and praised Thomas’ professionalism.

“Demaryius is a great kid, I have a ton of respect for him, very professional,” Belichick told reporters. “Did everything we asked him to do, [but] our circumstances changed a couple times leading up to when he was traded.”

Belichick told reporters that he believes he was fully transparent with Thomas.

“I felt like I was always truthful with him,” Belichick said. “But things changed and therefore what I said was not the same as it was previously. So it is what it is.

Right off the bat, Belichick was asked about his suspension of defensive end Michael Bennett. His answer can chalked up as the expected one to many who have covered the team.

“Yeah I’m not gonna comment on any player’s personal situation,” Belichick simply responded to Doug Kyed.

Bennett was given a one week suspension by the Patriots due to conduct detrimental to the team.

The Patriots take on the New York Jets Monday night at 8:15 p.m.
