The next installment of Beantown Background, as well as the 16th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, is Guerschon Yabusele.

Yabusele will be entering his rookie season this year after spending 2016 playing in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Yabusele started his career in the youth program of Chorale Roanne Basket in 2012. He competed with the under-21 team until 2013 when he signed with the official Roanne team. According to BeBasket (France), Yabusele signed with Rouen Métropole Basket in 2015.

The Celtics selected the 6-foot-8, 260-pound forward with the 16th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

He soon thereafter signed a deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. He averaged 20.9 points and 9.4 rebounds, and was named a CBA All-Star for the season.

It’s unknown how much Yabusele will be able to contribute this year, but after a strong year overseas and a chance to get big minutes as a big man, he will definitely be someone to keep an eye on.
