World Series Champions Washington Nationals 2019 Season Recap

The Nationals did it. They did the unpredictable (although our very own John Lepore predicted it prior to the season, so ask him for the lottery numbers) and won their first World Series. They overcame every obstacle imaginable to do it, from starting the season 19-31 to winning the Wild Card game in come-from-behind fashion against Reliever of the Year Josh Hader to beating the extremely tough competition in the Dodgers and Astros in seven games, and more. So how did the Nationals overcome all the odds (0.1% chance to win the World Series in May) to win it all? Let’s get further into their season.

Philadelphia Phillies 2019 Season Recap

Bryce Harper entered, for a massive 13-year, $330 million contract, and expectations for the 2019 Phillies skyrocketed. A lot of people picked the Phillies to win the NL East after the signing, but instead they literally had an average season, finishing at .500 (81-81) and fourth in the division. Not only that but to add salt to the $330 million wound, the Phillies and Harper had to watch the Harper-less Nationals take a crazy route on the way to winning their first World Series in team history. More on the Nationals Cinderella-type season in their recap coming soon.

New York Yankees 2019 Season Recap

Any season that ends without hoisting the Commissioner’s Trophy for the New York Yankees is considered a disappoint. So when the Yankees lost to the Astros in six games in the American League Championship Series, there was obviously a lot of disappointment. But that doesn’t mean it was a complete and utter failure of a 2019 season. Let’s delve further into the Yankees’ 2019 season and what to look forward to for 2020.

San Diego Padres 2019 Season Recap

The San Diego Padres entered the 2019 season with fairly low, but also promising expectations, so their 70-92 record is a bit disappointing but also somewhat expected. The Padres signing of stud third baseman Manny Machado in the offseason skyrocketed their expectations, and their young core led by shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. and pitcher Chris Paddack gave them a look at their bright future. Their ultimate fallout was their young players and older players not being compatible enough to play well together, and their bullpen struggles. One big problem was also communication issues between the manager and the team, as the Padres fired Andy Green before the season even ended. Now let’s get further into the Padres season.

2019 AL Wild Card Preview: Well-Matched Teams Set for Unpredictable Battle

The Oakland Athletics have done it again; they find themselves back in the wild card game for the second straight year. Everyone counts them out every year, but they surprised us yet again as they set to matchup against another AL East team in the Tampa Bay Rays (lost to Yankees in last year’s wild card game). The Rays are also a team that finds different ways to win, and they were able to outlast a late surge by Cleveland to lock up a spot in this game. Neither team is one of the “elite” teams, but they still found a way to get a chance to meet up with the Houston Astros in the ALDS.

Philadelphia Eagles Week 4 Recap: Interception Seals Huge Road Victory in Shootout

What a game! What a way to open up week four! In what was a back-and-forth shootout last night, the Eagles were the team to come out on top, 34-27, in a thriller. The Eagles ended up finishing the game down to just two cornerbacks, but with just seconds left, backup cornerback Craig James came up with a big play to tip the ball in the air. Nigel Bradham caught the tipped ball for the game-sealing interception.

Can Eagles "Catch" a Break on Thursday Night Against the Packers?

The Eagles are coming off a tough, tough 24-27 loss by the hands of the Lions on Sunday, and have a quick turnaround as they face a tough and surprising 3-0 Packers team tonight at Lambeau. Kickoff is at 8:20 on Fox to open up Week 4 of the regular season. Not that any game this early in the season is a “must-win”, but after starting the season 1-2 following Super Bowl aspirations, this is as “must-win” as a Week 4 game gets. The Cowboys, while they have only faced the Giants, Redskins, and Dolphins (combined 1-8 record), have started off 3-0 and look to be the team to beat at the moment in the NFC East. If the Eagles are going to want to keep pace with Dallas, they are going to have to win this game.
