Well, the Rangers closed The Ballpark in Arlington in decent fashion, going 78-84 last year, and now move into their new ballpark, Globe Life Park. Not much was really expected last year for the Rangers in the AL West with the Astros* and A’s, but they were in the American League Wild Card race for part of the season and outperformed where expectations were.

Philadelphia Eagles Pre Free Agency Seven Round Mock Draft

The Philadelphia Eagles had an up and down season but still wound up sneaking into the playoffs in the lowly NFC East. Or in the words of Patrick Star, NFC “Weast”. The Eagles were subject to many injuries throughout the year. In their 17-9 wild-card playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks, they were down their starting right tackle, right guard, their entire original starting receiver core, and lost Carson Wentz in the first half. All season, their glaring weaknesses at receiver and secondary were exploited. The two together made burnt toast with butter.

Brett Gardner Re-signs with Yankees

Brett Gardner was drafted by the Yankees in 2005 out of the College of Charleston and returns to them on another one-year deal, worth $12.5 million with a $10 million option for 2021. A few teams were interested in multi-year deals with Gardner, but he showed his loyalty in preferring to stay with the Yankees. The veteran outfielder and clubhouse leader made his debut in 2008 and is the last remaining player from the Yankees’ last World Series victory in 2009, his first full year with the club.

Gerrit Cole Signs With the New York Yankees

Gerrit Cole was drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2011 MLB Draft out of UCLA. He made his debut in 2013 with the Pirates, where he pitched for five seasons, before being traded to the Houston Astros in the offseason following the 2017 season. He has been one of the best pitchers in the game the last two seasons and had his best season to date this past year.

Mike Moustakas Signs with the Cincinnati Reds

The Reds have finally gotten Mike Moustakas out from under being subject to one-year deals after the last two years and signed him to a four-year $64 million deal. The rebuild in the southwest of Ohio now gets a boost with Moustakas being a great bat to add to the middle of the lineup.
