The Detroit Lions started the season off with plenty of promise, starting out the season 2-1-1. That one loss being a 34-30 nail biter against the Kansas City Chiefs, in which Matthew Stafford would put together a touchdown drive to push Detroit ahead with two minutes to left. Chiefs running back Darrell Williams would take back the lead for the last time, with 23 seconds left to spare.
It was a season of two tales for the Atlanta Falcons after the first eight games in which would result in a 1-7 record, things looked to be in complete shambles. However, it was week nine when their fortunes would begin to pick up. They would knock off the division-leading New Orleans Saints by a commanding 26-9 result, in what must have felt like a real shot in the arm. After getting that surprising win against the Saints under their belt, the Falcons would continue to play a much more steady blend of Football and finish the year out 6-2.
It was 2003 in the Orange Bowl, the last time Iowa and USC faced one another. In which Carson Palmer would lead the Trojans past Brandon Banks and the Hawkeyes in a decisive 38-17 win. Kirk Ferentz was the head coach for Iowa in that game and continues to be a mainstay with the team.

Boise State hosts the Mountain West title for the third year in a row, having gone 1-1 against Fresno State on the past two occasions. After an 11-1 season, Boise currently sits 19th in the CFP Rankings. They come into this game not only looking to correct their failures of last year but also greatly improve their current Bowl chances.
Its been 35 years since both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Hamilton Ti-Cats, met in a title game. Looking towards the present, these are now the only two teams without a Grey Cup win in this century. Hamilton’s last one being in 1999 when they won 33-21 over the Calgary Stampeders. For the Blue Bombers, you need to go all the way back to 1990 when they knocked off the Edmonton Eskimos in dominating fashion 50-11. Their last finals appearance being in 2011 when they lost to the B.C. Lions in Vancouver.
Needing to get one of the last two spots, Denny Hamlin would put on a very decisive performance in Phoenix. Earning himself the victory along with a seat at the final four table in Homestead. Hamlin had one of the quickest cars all day, topping most laps led with 143.

After six weeks of exciting World Cup Rugby, it comes down to a Saturday finale between two familiar foes in England and South Africa. These two national sides have quite an interesting past history, which dates far back as 1906 during what was the South African rugby tour of Europe.
